Oil in the aux ports and LIM...bad thing?

Ok, so I'm pulling apart my motor, and the first thing I noticed when pulling off the LIM is the oil and grimy buildup; oil in the aux ports, and all over the lower part of the LIM. The LIM gasket was completely deformed, making me wonder what, if any, issues this could've presented.

I haven't pulled the motor yet, and obviously I'm doing a rebuild, but I was just wondering if it's normal to have oil like that in the aux ports and LIM? I want to say no, but I guess I could see it, as the rotors passing over could easily scrape some oil into the aux port sleeves. Pic below...

Also, check this out...look at the exhaust manifold (I don't have a better pic). Does that look like the heat shield is removed? I think it is, because I haven't removed anything yet, but I've never seen what the stock heat shield looks like...

some oil is normal, and not a concern, The PCV and the oil injectors both can put oil into the intake tract.

Thanks Icemark, I forgot about the oil injectors being able to do this. Does that gasket look normal, though? It was rock hard when I pulled the LIM off of the block.

You'll also get that hard, gunky carbon deposit from intake reversion. Totally normal.
