Oh gratious rotary gods... PLEASE!!
My 89 TII is acting strangely. I will timeline the last week.
Firstly, she has been purring like a kitten since I replaced the BAC valve last Saturday. The idle was dead smooth. Tuesday I replaced the plugs due to the fact that I had no idea when the prev. owner had done it. The idle was still smooth. Thursday night I had an ASE master tech install my MSD 6A (free of charge), and drove the car directly home. I didn't test spank it as it was 96 degrees out. Just drove home with the a/c on.
Saturday, I replaced a hose clamp on the BAC valve, wrapped the MSD wiring, and then ran some errands. I still had not really gotten wild with it. The car sat in my garage for several hours calling out to me, so I decided to go play.....
I started the car and it immediately shot to 3000 rpms, I goosed the pedal and it dropped, studdering slightly, down to 1400 and intermittantly popped or misfired. I turned the car off and inspected. All wiring, hoses, connections checked ok. I started it again and the same thing. I tried tapping the accelerator, turning the a/c on and off, but it still wanted 1400 rpms.
I let the car sit overnight and tried again. 3000 rpms, studder to 1400, misfires. DAMMIT. I checked all vacuum hose and connections, found nothing.
I decided to test drive it around the block. At the first stop the car settled down to 750 rpm. I didn't push the car, but it seemed to perform normally. All stops 750 rpm with intermittant "misses".
I turned it off, then started it. 750 rpm, intermittant miss. WTF.
I am running the stock plug wires, age unknown, as the ones I ordered 2 weeks ago are still not here. My leading wires are running 16.15 and 19.00 kohms.
Thoughts:
Vacuum leak??
Fried wires??
MSD??
PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!

If your wires are old, it is common for problems to start to occur when installing a CD ignition. This is due to the ignition running at higher voltages (faster rise time) than stock. The most common cause is arcing from wire-wire or wire-ground. I would replace the wires anyway, since you are using carbon core suppression wiring, and this does not take advantage of the higher current this ignition will drive. The best wires to use are Magnetic Suppression wiring. Check NGK and Magnecor out. Have fun!

Curious, how much did the BAC set you back? I've been getting a progressively worse idle with the lights on, and when applying the brakes the headlights dim; I don't know if its related to the BAC but, hey, if its relatively cheap I'll slap a new one on.
The shooting to 3k is part of the accelerated warmup sequence (aka accelerated wear sequence). I'm pretty sure that going to this mode is temp. dependant and that it wouldn't do this if the rad temp was more than 17deg C. There's a temp switch at the bottom of the rad on the drivers side for this, as this is an area 'near' to where the tech attached the MSD, its probably worth checking.
Also a quick one, check that your plug wires are on the right places.
