Oem Coolant Seals

Well I was at a friends house the other night watching him build a engine. He bought OEM coolant seals and they looked like they had a bunch of white stripes and like 3 different colors.

I bought a set of seals from a guy called MazdaSpecialist that was on the forum. Mine are square coolant seals but they dont look anything like that.

These are mine. Will they still work.

Sounds like you have a set of aftermarket seals. There are various versions on the market that are supposed to be better for several reasons. I've only used Mazda seals so I can't say for sure if they are.

Buy the OEM seals. You don't want that **** in your engine.

Even if someone claims that they are better, there's nothing wrong with the OEM seals to begin with. It's the iron housing rotting away and letting the seal slip out is the problem. No knock-off seal is going to fix that.

The white stripe on the OEM o-rings are for the installation position, if I remember correctly the white stripe is supposed to face up. The aftermarket seals you have don't have that which mean you risk installing them twisted, which can sacrifice the life of them. When I rebuilt my motor, I went with Pineapple Racing o-rings. They are about twice the life, but they are lifetime/re-useable seals, meaning even if your rebuild didnt go well, you can still use them, many if not all other seals you will have to trash them and buy new ones. Also, the pineapple seals last alot longer. OEM is good, but I think the Pineapple seals are the only ones out there that are better.

No I'm not in the airforce but my father is and I go out to tinker every once in a while. I'm also planning on going into the air force.

Ok That is fine with the aftermarket ones I hope I can find the edge if not then I'm going to sell them.

Really... If you're stationed there, stay away from a guy named Rob Mixon.
