Octane Booster
Octane Booster
Is octane booster safe to use in my engine, I pay 2.25 for gas and its killing me. My engine overheated before and we thought it might have been the octane booster running the engine too hot.
Higher octane will actually lower combustion temperatures.
Now if you were running the car really hard because you were thinking the octane booster was making more power....or you have a coolant leak.
There is no need to use octane booster on a regular basis.

octane rating has to do with the fuel's ability to not ping. not hp. the lower octane you can run without ping is best and makes more power than high octane. which goes against what those companies want you to think

btw....i experimented with xylene from home depot and the *** dyno says low end isnt as great but engine picks up alot better....at 10.50 a gallon...that boosts only gets turned on on rare spirited weekend drives
anyone ever heard of using moth ***** for octane boost as well as better gas mileage ? a instructor at my school says it works just dont use to many or you could blow a hole in your piston..... haha
couldn't you just run pour some methanol in with your gas for some octane boost?
I assume "yes". Just dont be like the guy who went to walmart and got rubbing alcohol.

Octane "booster" boosts your octane up to 7 points! Keep in mind that an octane point is not an octane NUMBER. There are 10 points to each number, so dumping that NOS crap into your tank is only going to hop you up from 89 to 89.7. Also, repeated use of that wears out your fuel lines and will eventually spring a leak.

With about 57 liters (15 US Gallons) of Chevron tank fuel, adding 0.36 liters (12 US Ounces) of MMT NOS Racing Formula (US$9.99) to improve R+M/2 octane for the base fuel ratings at least as follows:
Volume of Base Fuel /Octane Rating of Base /Volume of Additive /Octane Rating of Additive /Estimated Final R+M/2
56.775 89 0.3549 115 89.16
56.775 91 0.3549 115 91.15
56.775 92 0.3549 115 92.14
56.775 93 0.3549 115 93.14
56.775 95 0.3549 115 95.12
Add ten bottles of Racing Formula, and boost 91 to a wimpy 92.4, for the cost of buying 15 gallons of Purple race fuel (107 motor octane).

did you do a LS1 swap? Where did you get those pistons? (not a flame just a question/smartass remark)
