OBD1 and the 1988 RX7?
Hello crew...
I have tried to get this information myself, but continually run into conflicting answers.
I have a 1988 Mazda rx7 and would like to see if im getting any codes.
I have learned that the 88 comes with OBD1 scanner interface.
I have learned where it is located.
I have learned that method of building a LED/resistor mock up to read the flashing LEDS.
What I would like to know is if the interface will allow a connection with a regular OBD1 diagnostic digital reader?
Any help would be great.
Thanks...

you don't need a code reader, you just hook up a light and count the flashes... it is not very helpful, it will only set codes for open or short circuits

The S4 MOP is completely mechanical, there are no electronics involved. Chapter 2 (Lubrication System) of the Factory Service Manual contains the procedures for checking pump output (basically disconnect half of it and check how much oil goes through).
