number of things not working after dash install.

alright, removed my s4 dash, replaced it with an s5....took the whole s4 wiring harness over to the s5 dash....

k, got everything back in, hooked everything up for the most part to see if everything is working.....everything is working except:

1: speedometer
2: stereo
3: logicon

im thinking the stereo and logicon is a blown fuse....does one single fuse effect both?

the speedometer.....dear god help me.

also anyone have a wiring diagram of the passenger side of the dash of what should be hooked up?

what is the little gray box behind the glove box?

please help, thanks.

The FSM is available online, ya know.

Anyway, I have a borrowed scanner, so here goes...

- the grey box is the brain for the factory alarm

- the speedometer is a purely mechanical device. Either it isn't connected properly to the gauge (which I think is most likely) or it isn't connected properly at the tranny OR there is damage within the cable. Or the gearing within the tranny that drives the speedo cable is busted, but I've never heard of that happening...

- double and triple-check your stereo wiring. You've probably mixed up two wires. Also, make sure that your ground wire is actually grounding (make sure it's firmly contacting bare metal.)

- Logicon - is everything plugged in? Maybe the unit took a bad bump?

Dude, did you pull all that stuff out and not label the wires with a label maker or something?

Speedo: can be a bitch to reach in there to hook up correctly. My first bet is you don't really have the cable completely in position. There should be that annoying little in-line clip thing to hold it in place. Better make sure that is in position, or you probably aren't hooked up right.

Stereo: Is this stock or some custom install with wires and fuses and crap all stuff in behind trim panels? If it's stock, think about replacing it anyway because it probably sucks even when it works. If it's custom, I don't know what to say.

Logicon: Another bitch connection under the vent trim pieces back by the windsheild which is all too easy to get in half assed. Are you sure the receptacles are snapped cleanly together? Hate to say it, but you are probably going to have to pull it out and make sure the pins/connectors in the receptacles are tight. FYI, my tach stopped working when I pulled the gauge cluster in Mr. Grey. I am hoping it is just some of the pins in the connector plug.

The stereo and the logicon are handled by separate fuses...I think...you've got to get the FMS or check it online.

yeah, the little plastic thing on the speedo cable, from what i gathered........you line it up on the cable, then it just snaps over the metal......poor design if you ask me.....ill push it on there as hard as i can tommorrow.....see what happens.....

the logicon is hooked up securely.

im measuring voltage on the radio tommorrow to make sure its getting power.
