NRG 2.0 quick release problems

My dad and I put on my quick release, short hub and steering wheel and now it squeaks loudly and it won't slide through my hands when coming out of a turn. We trimmed the plastic and all that good stuff. We even loosened the nut that holds the hub and it is still very stiff and squeaks. When we first put it on I think we tightened the main nut to much, do you think that messed something up? I need help with this because the squeak is annoying as hell and I need it to slide back through my hands.

Did you use the spacer they provide you? Also it could probably be the spring mechanism in the device... try fiddling with that.

What plastic did you trim?

I tightened the hell out of the main nut on my old car... didn't do much so idk?

We didn't use the spacer. Does it go between hub and quick release or hub and steering column? It isn't the quick release it is the hub. I should've put hub squeaking not quick release. We trimmed the hole that gives the hub room to spin, if that makes sense.
