Talking Noob to the rotary world in need of some help

first post here, My name is Lucas and i'm 16. I've been working on Hondas sence I was 14 and currently own 2, a 90 CRX HF which is my soon to be track **** and a 90 Civic Standard which is now my parts car becasue it got hit by a snow plow the other day I build honda motors for people in my spare time. I have quite a extensive backround in cars and I started working on car with my dad back when I was 6. I also goto a auto tech program through our high school. Now that i've introduced myself onto the questions

Hondas are starting to get old becasue I seem to know everything about them (according to my friends ) and I've always wanted a FC3 ever sence I saw a local with one a white 90 Turbo II. The other day I noticed a very clean N/A 91 RX7 down the street from school for $3995 obo. I'm going to meet up with the guy tomarrow and check out the car (and try to talk him down to at least 3k so i can afford it). Now, being a rotary noob what exactally should i look for when i check the car out? I read through a link I found on here saying what to look for but some of it is over my head. I know what to look for with the Interior and Exterior but what should i look for with the engine? I'm going to take it for a test drive for sure but what should I look for to make sure it's in as good as condition as the guy clames? I've gathered, ask the owner about oil consumption, check the tranny for a 1st-2nd grind, but what else? Is there anything that would instantly point out somthing like a blown apex seal... etc?

Thanks for reading all that I really hope this car is in good condtion becasue I want a FC3 bad

Please read the FAQ for Fc sticky thread at the top of this section. There are a couple links on what to look for when buying a 2nd gen RX-7 there.

Yeah the engine wouldn't run (or would barely run- simular to your hondas only running on two cylinders.
