Noob help in FC purchase

I am looking into getting a nice FC that has an 13b re. It has a stand alone microtech and no exhaust. Says the waste gate is sticking so no boost and just needs tuned. The car will run, so my question is will a compression test tell me the condition of the motor or could there be other things I need the check?

A compression test will only tell you the condition of the housings and apex seals. If it smokes any, check the color if its blue then its burning oil if its white and smells sweet its coolant and itll need rebuilt before teh seals fail further.

The FAQ has how to buy guides that provide a lot of information. However since this is a modified car, all bets are off. Sounds like you are buying someone else's half-done project which can be problematic. Quality of work and how many corners were cut is a major factor.

yes, he says car is 99% but it is just at that point iam not sure if it is a problem or a great buy. Money has been spent so that is a factor.

Yes get a compression test done.

Is this your first rx7? Doesn't sound like a bright idea if it's your first rotary.

Best of luck to ya!
