noob buying advice help

hello all, new here cuz i'm lookin to buy an fc, i'm not that familiar with rx's. Just that i almost bought one when i was 17 and wanted one ever since. i really want to get into drifting so i decided to get one of these. i learned alot from reading so far and heard that if your plans are to turbo one, its alot easier to use the platform of a factory truboed fc, well thats kinda a no-brainer but comin from those of you who have dealt with this made me think. i was lookin to buy an 88 n/a 5 bolt hubs and full options but not listed as a gxl so i dunno what trim for sure, but than i came across a 87 turbo II. the 88 seems pretty clean and solid for 3k and the 87 looks like it could be a money pit for 2k. since this is a project for me the work etc. isn't really a problem. But i was wondering what kind of things i should look for on these when shopping and what kind of questions i should ask?? thank you so much, i'm tryin to buy asap so lay it on me

don't expect to be spoon fed like this all the time. your first post could've been answered had you looked 2 threads above yours. use the search feature. it works. even if you have to read a lot.

Would like to add if you are just starting out with rotary, it's going to be A LOT easier to deal with a n/a than a turbo. Get used to the car first, see if you will actually be comfortable driving it, working on it, etc. Then go with a turbo. Don't want to jump in head first if the waters shallow my friend.
