Non-OEM sized radiators

At AutoX last summer I saw turbo FC that was running different sized rad. IIRC it was about 3/4 of the length and width of a stock rad but it was about 3" thick. The guy said it was putting out about 400whp, with some giant turbo, with no overheating problems.

So I got to thinking, are there oddly-shaped rads that work as good, or better than OEM. Also, It would make routing I/C piping much easier if you could simply go beside the rad rather than throught the fenders.

So If you are running a non-oem rad please post some pics.

i am running a AFCO radiaitor, dual pass.

driving around the city in orlando (90+ everyday in the summer) and i dont even do above 45C (on the APEX-i commander) anyone know whats that in farenheight? thats also with a big thick intercooler in the way...

to give you an idea... on the stock temp gauge in the cluster i would normally drive around with it at about half way. now it barely gets a quarter of the way from the bottom.

also, it could depend on the ducting to his radiator and what type of fan.

but check out AFCO for the best. in my own opinion...

heres a few pics of it before i finished everything up...

ita 3" thick, plus a little taller and wider thank stock. so its all around larger. cost me only 200. and im sure this thing is FAR better than any drop in KOYO or Fluidine. takes some welding or adapting (for bracktes) to get it to fit since its not a drop in piece. but i never been in an rx7 that ran this cool...

and as you can see, my fan is not the best...no real shroud

I was thinking more along the lines of rads that are smaller than OEM. Small enough so that you could run i/c piping between the rad and the rad support.

I've seen people run Civic radiators that work fine. Smaller is okay if you get the right kid of air to it. It's not the size of your radiator...it's how you use it.
