Thanks, I figured that out. I just wanted to know if there is a easy way to get at the input shaft bearing and I guess there isnt. Not a big deal, my trans is fine but the noise is kinda annoying.

RotorRX, this thread is funny because one guy says it's the throwout bearing while the next says it's not, then the third says it is, etc. That's what's funny.
Wow, dude. Let me show you why your sarcasm made you look really dumb. First off, just because some people call the pilot bearing an input shaft bearing, it doesn't mean it's right. Second, even if your car is in neutral, and you release the clutch pedal, the clutch engages and the input shaft spins in harmony with the E-shaft. If you haven't replaced a clutch before, then do so before posting misinformation. If you have, maybe you should draw yourself a picture... jacobcartmill style.

Actually, I have replaced a clutch. And I've heard pilot/input shaft bearing referred to as the same thing by ASE certified mechanics. Misconception... maybe?

Yeah your right now that I think about it. However that's the point I was getting to but wrote it out wrong. My point was that when the pedal was out and the input shaft was spinning with the eshaft, i had the same rattle. I replaced both the throwout bearing and pilot bearing, but not the inputshaft bearing and it resolved the sound....
