Noises after fuel pump rewire

So i followed the whole writeup for the fuel pump rewire off 1300cc.com and it started up fine. I just wanted to know if these noises are normal. When I give it maybe 3/4 throttle in boost i will hear the relay click on. Then also when i was on the highway pretty high in rpms and decent amount of boost i will hear a really loud rattle!! Sounds like its coming from the resistor that was moved from the front to back. I just removed a nut in the trunk and placed the whole assembly there. Is this normal? Or is it just really loud cuz i am driving around with gutted rear interior?

i was having the same problem, i did the same rewire using the same website. my relay was turning on on off constantly and eventualy i couldnt drive my car at allbecause cause it was goin crazy. i put the relay assembly back to the front and hooked all factory wires back to the relay and ditched the second relay and all associated wires, but i kept the switched 12volt source to the fuel pump itself. now its running great.

anyone?

i've been messing around with my wiring making sure all the connections are good. Seems like they are, what could the cause be? It seems like i'm running full voltage ALL the time. Isn't that resistor that was moved from the front supposed to drop teh voltage down at idle? Is that unit bad?

The resistor/relay package is a pretty passive outfit. A gnd signal from the ECU triggers the relay to give you full voltage when the engine is under load. When the car is not under load you should be seeing approx 9vdc.

If you hear the relay rapidly clicking maybe you have a bad connection? Intermittent gnd? It's too hard to say. Might just be a bad relay inside it chattering.

Probably miswired. Too hard to say just what or where. I'm doing this from memory, but if it's a series four, disconnect the green/red wire and check the voltage. Then put a gnd on the terminal where the green/red wire went and check the voltage. The voltage output should have changed going to the pump. I'll double check the *green/red* wire later and if that's the wrong wire I'll write back and say so.

EDIT: Yes, it's the green/red wire. If you gnd the terminal where the green/red wire goes on the resistor/relay package, the voltage should drop. Take the gnd away and the voltage rises. See the free online FSM and wiring schematics. S5 is similar to S4.

One click is all you should hear out of the resistor/relay package. NOthing else.

Thanks dude 2nd person to actually write back on this thread. This has been bugging me a lot this week. Ya i have a s5, which green/red wire should i ground and check the voltage? i've been checkin everything even bought a new relay from radioshack. One thing i noticed now, i don't even hear the relay clicking on anymore, before i would hear it when i would give it half throttle. I think something maybe burned up or changed after i test drove it.
