no tail lights/side markers!

So I was going for a drive last night and when I switched on my lights I had headlights but no dash lights,no side markers,no tail lights,no plate lights.I checked fuses/relays all seem to be fine is there a ground I have overlooked? Is it the cpu? shorted positive wire?

bump...I did a search... before I go tearing my dash board apart to get at the light switch, can someone tell me where the ground for the tail lamps are? also are there any relays for the tail lamps/side markers? the first time my lights went out I fooled around with wires in the spare tire area and the lights came on?

Dude, there is no reason to bump after 50 minutes. Relax. Some people have more to do than sit here and watch the rx7club for your questions. For example, I was out working on a Rx-7.

Either way, its obvious that even though you searched, you didn't read the FAQs at the top of the 2nd gen section.
My tail lights don't work, but my head lights do
The light switch connections may have burnt out. Check the back of the light switch.

My dash lights don't work
Did you check the dimmer control??? If you did and they still don't work the light switch connections may have burnt out. Check the back of the light switch.
Just take your cluster surround off, there's seriously only 5 screws.

hmmm that faq's not that helpful then if that what it says:-P gosh you people can be real ones you waste more energy finding that faq stuff than just answering his question........... red start with the basics check the illum fuse FIRST... keeping it simple..... i had an aftermarket radio and the illumination wire was not connected and it was grounding out. one fuse affects alot of stuff as you can see

I was operating under the assumption that if you had an electrical problem like that, you'd check the fuse box..

if that isnt it just pull the the gauge surround thing that has the dimmer out a bit to where u can reach the plugs. when my did this.. i got a ticket btw, i simply bent the pins enough to make contact. mine's been workin ever since.

edit: not sure if we're talking about the same switch, just in case. the switch im talking about controls the lights, the headlights coming on and off. on the bottom left side of the gauge cluster surround thing.

The FAQ for FC is very helpful... in fact more helpful than what you posted..

Because he already said:
I checked fuses/relays all seem to be fine
So your suggstion of a fuse is pointless.

Yet the FAQ for FC sticky thread says to check the back of the headlight switch... why??? Because its the 2nd most common place to check; as the headlight switches and harnesses tend to burn out on the FC if the bulbs and bulbs sockets on the parking lights have not been maintained.

So your whole post, bitching about others replies and telling him to look at something he already claims to have checked is a waste of time... more so than any other reply in this thread.

And Red 86, I have rebuilt headlight switches on my website, if it is indeed a burnt switch, as both the FAQ for FC, myself, Wonko, and others suspect.
