No reverse lights? What up with that ?!? Also exhaust leak = snowmobile

I was curious if anyone else has had a problem with their reverse lights not coming on?

I kinda suspected mine weren't turning on but never got out to check while leaving it in reverse.....

So, a friend happened to be walking outside when I was backing up to go to work and I asked him if they were working. He said no.

That explained why my not so dark rear tint looked so damn dark at night. No lights!

Isn't there some little switch that is supposed to be engaged next to the shifter when it goes in reverse to check?

Also, side note

I am an avid snowmobiler. My exhaust blew open right before my main cat (replacement pipe for the first two, gotta love Michigan's no emissions tests ) and now my car sounds like my snowmobile.

I love coming up my inclined 30' driveway towards the garage gassing it and making it sound all "rap rap".

Just thought I would share my fun along with my question. Conserve space on the forums!

been covered before, you amy wish to use the search function found in the upper right hand corner of this page.

But the short and sweet is that the switch occasionally fails when the contacts gets dirty on the 84+ FB, FC, FD, Miata, and MPV.

You can use a relay in some cases or replace the switch, but make sure that the switch is plugged in first before spending any time or money.

The reverse switch is found on the tranny.

if one works and the other doesn't (and you have swapped bulbs to make sure its not the bulb) then I would be looking at a bad connection in the socket or a bad ground for the light.

If you wiggle the wires while its in can you get anything to happen??

My car fumes smell like a snowmobile or I should say that I went riding on one anyway. Stinks my clothes up real bad.

My ex-gf used to complain at me when I had no cats installed in my car. The thing reeked of exhaust.

She would always say "You smell like car. Time for a shower, let's go!"

Couldn't argue with her. Then she seriously got upset when she rode in the car and smelled like "car". So, I put the main cat back in, but left out the first 2.

The switch is on the transmission huh? I will have to check for it when I do my next oil change next weekend.

I will search around and try to find more information
