No Reverse lights

Just completed auto to 5spd swap.

trans from 88 GXL to my 88 GXL,

everything is a go but no reverse lights. i know u plug the two red wires from the trans to the two right plugs on the four plug connector. did that but doesnt work.

1st how to fix it, checked fuses and there fine, could it be the switch in the transmission?

2nd how to wire my own reverse light switch?

it is more than likely your switch. they're cheap to buy new and very easy to install. check to make sure that your wires are still in tact.

dont do it, just fix the switch.

just find a "new/working" switch. You could make your own but id feel goofy pushing a ghetto interior button everytime you back up.

they're pretty easy to come by for NA trannies, so you should be able to get one for cheap. You may want to check that they come on if you connect those two wires on the harness by hand. The reverse switch is also coupled with the 5th gear switch (4 wires coming out of the same plug), so make sure that you connected the correct ones.
