no power cant figure it out...

i still having the same issues with not having any power when i gas it. the car sputters a bit and just goes no where and all you hear is air rushing out somewhere. it drives fine if i use less then quater throttle and it also idles fine. i checked every vacuum line, every hose, all the gaskets. but since i took my uim off the car sounds like it just blows out all of the air, it sounds like my bov is on at all times, i tie wraped the 2nd butterflys to see if the acuater was bad, nope still same thing. i am loseing air somewhere and i cant find it. this all started when i removed my uim and put it back on. any ideas what it could be? im am completely out of ideas this time.

You said it yourself: you have a vacuum leak. Start the car and let it idle. Use a Super Soaker to spray the engine with water. When you find the leak, you'll know.

If you suspect the BOV, cork it or use duct tape to seal it's output then test.

i also noticed it seems like the boost air is back tracking. my ic was nice and tight and the part closest to the tb was about an inch up from where i tightend it. so i am thinking the boost pushed it back up. is it possible for the air to back track???

I had a similar problem with my 87 GXL. I had lots of intake noise and also noticed the exhaust sound was muted. I was loosing speed going up hills and had the gas pedal floored.
Ended up being one of the port valve actuators was stuck. had to move the lever a few times. A bit of a rare occurrence I think?
