No movement; Lots of Smoke
I put in a new tps because the old one was going out. Oh by the way my car is a 1990 NA. But anyways over the past three days my speed would decrease more and more. My rpms would go up but the speed wouldnt match. Until finally the car wouldnt move no matter how much you press the throttle, and on top of that I have white smoke coming out of the car. Anybody know what to do?
P.S. I drove the car for three days like this because on the third day I was supposed to get the tps adjusted by mazda. But now there telling me they cant adjust it and the problem may be big!

Your clutch is probably destroyed (assuming it's not an auto). Why would you get the TPS adjusted by Mazda? You can do it in 5 minutes with a multimeter, I'm pretty sure I could train a gopher to do it.

Yes, replacing the clutch will definitely fix your car doesn't go anywhere (and the smell too!). Pretty much anytime it's in gear and the RPM goes up but the car doesn't speed up, it's a clutch issue. It's a pretty tasking job though.

Ok..white smoke is not good
have you Pulled codes on this car yet?
I am suspecting that your car is going into Limp mode,as it is an S5 (Omp operating OK?)
check the coolant level too.
Has your Temps been Ok in the car?
Post Info.

lawlwut?
Limp mode will still allow the car to move, nor would the RPM's increase while speed does not. The smoke, given the previously mentioned circumstanes, would more than likely be from roasting the clutch.

I say replace the clutch... and then pull codes, verify closed loop operation, set the idle speed and idle mixture, check and adust timing and then adjust the tps.
And don't go back to that dealer/mechanic. There is nothing about a slipping clutch that keeps you from adjusting the TPS. It sounds like it may be a good time to learn more about doing some of the lighter work yourself, so you don't get told 'fairy tales.'

Well I think the white smoke is from coolant leaking into the tranny or the engine. But im in college and couldnt afford to take time to figure out how to do it. Anyway, in like 2 months ima get the engine rebuilt. So hopefully that problem will be resolved.
