it makes it a little faster. all-in-all, it's not worth the noise. Rotaries are just way too loud to run like that. Save up for an exhaust setup, better then losing your hearing and tickets.

Have fun being deaf, getting less gas mileage (obviously you're going to drive it harder), and having 1-2 extra HP!

You would actually notice more of a speed boost if you got rid of the old stock cat(s) themselves. I'm not saying remove it, but you may look into getting a high flow cat (expensive, bleh) or just a straight pipe (not expensive!) in it's place. You'll need mufflers though, I rode in my FC with the cat disconnected ONCE, never again. I had to drive with my finger in my ear, and I'm pretty tolerant to loud exhausts.
One thing though, without the mufflers you shouldn'lt hurt the car much. The underside of you car is going to get VERY dirty, and you'll probably smell exhaust more. The one thing I worry about is that RX-7s are known to shoot flames, and you don't really want flamage in that part of the car. It's not likely to happen with stock cats on the car, but anything is possible.

when you said 5th and 6th ports wont open with no cats is that because of a sensor or too much air i had strait pipes on my x7 and that was preety loud so i got a high flow cat and noticed more power.

Strait pipe=no aux ports on S4s, unless you open them by use of the air pump. And before you ask about how to search.
if straight pipe means a single exhaust pipe, then you're wrong. i have a 88 n/a with a single exhaust pipe and my ports work fine. i can post pics of the set-up if you like? (*disclaimer* if you mean something else by saying straight pipe then i'm sorry)
