Unhappy newly rebuilt TII will not run.

everytime you crank it it seems like it wants to catch but wont. jump started it and was able to get it down the block for the first time but then out of nowhere heavy plumes of burning coolant start pouring out of the exhaust. will die once around 700 rpm, will not idle. Any ideas?

Who built the motor?
Are you sure its coolant and not oil/assembly grease?
Do you have good spark and fuel?
You get your timing as close as possible?

Hook a battery charger up to it, gas pedal to the floor and crank. With fuel/spark/timing it should start.

I rebuilt it with a friend of mine.
if it was assembly grease/oil wouldnt it have smoked right from the beggining?
and also it smelled of coolant

have good spark and fuel, and timing is good.

If you really think it is coolant, perhaps you caught a seal between a housing and an iron during re-assembly? Check to see that you don't have a blown seal.

Thats assuming the worst though.

In garage rebuilds, a pinched seal is common. Theirs a reason they(professional builders) glue the soft seals into the groove.

Take off the radiator cap and crank the car. If its drinking the coolant or spraying it everywhere, you pinched the seal.

You live you learn.

Good news is your probably going to be able to reuse the all the other soft seals.

What ever came of this? Did you figure out the problem or did you let it sit for a year before selling it to some random guy on the forums?

This was just after the rebuild. Turned out to be the CAS not in the right position. All got sorted out, that'd why this thread died lol
