Smile Newbie with a Logicon question...

OK, I may be buying an FC from a user on this board. Well, I'm considering it anyway.

I've been doing some reading about the logicon problems that seem to surface with these cars. From my understanding, the solders in the logicon go bad. Assuming nothing else is fried in there, is this a relatively easy repair? I an pretty good with electronics and know how to solder and use a multimeter.

Does anyone have schematics of this device?

well, i tried last night, i totally messsed it up. But hey there pretty cheap. You have to take the thing apart, and dont touch the clock part. but it's kinda like a sandwhich....the little clock screen is the top the 1st board is the middle, and you have to get at the bottom piece, is where the little plugs hook up the the outside prongs...kinda hard to explain. But you'll see on the bottom circuit board there are like 9 across and 2 down. you have to take off the mazda solder, and put on new stuff for it to work. Thats what i was told, i tried to fix it but mine was toast. So i'm buying a new one. Hope that helps you out.

Since you have some experience with the de-soldering/re-soldering, it should not be too difficult. I just completed the procedure a few weeks ago and the clock works flawlessly now. I would save the $$$ and do it yourself. Hit search and enter "clock fix". You should find some links on a step by step. I destroyed the links I had used and can't seem to find them.

The clock and the logicon are two different things. The logicon controls the heater and A/C.It is a bit of a pain to get out of the car but pretty easy to take apart once it is out.
