New TPS not OEM
I'm in the market for a new TPS and while searching online i found 2 other brands that make brand new s5 tii TPS other than mazda. both were on rockauto, one company is airtex i have never heard of them but they have a informational video on rockauto that go's over how they build tps better and blah blah blah, i dont know if i believe what the airtex represenitive is saying. The other company is Standard motor products, these two products are practically the same price, 205 dollars. a mazda one is 300 dollars.. i wanted to know if anyone has any expierence with either of these two brands with tps's.
thanks in advance

i have used airtex products in the past, in some cases they are rebadged OEM parts.
i use their fuel pumps for the RX8 which has the OEM part # label still on the assembly and is over $100 cheaper. this may not be the case with these TPS' but i have never had a problem with airtex.

Why not source out a good used one? Best way is to buy a complete TB with the sensor included. I've bought them factory sealed still with TBs and no problems. $50 fix. I just swapped the whole TB. Didn't have to adjust the TPS since it was still in the factory sealed setting.

you are locked in a room with a high priced lawyer, a low priced lawyer and the tooth fairy. in the middle of the room is a table piled high with 100 dollar bills.
the lights go out, and there is some scuffling
the lights come back on, and the money is gone, who took it?
the high priced lawyer, the other two, like your good used TPS, are figments of your imagination

i dont want to take tha gamble on a used one, when i was building this engine thats what i did initially, and my tb works fine but the tps that came with it will not adjust to 1k ohms...so i figured id just bite the bullet and buy a brand new one

In the past I have installed brand new TPS' on s5 models and still had the characteristic idle bounce during warmup and low rpm/low throttle fuel cutoff/bucking consistent with what most people call a "bad" TPS. Although I did not drive these cars when they were brand new, I believe those to be inherent characteristics of the fuel injection system on these cars.
To add fuel to the fire, I have also installed AP powerFC setups on s5 models which exhibited these "bad TPS" symptoms, making zero adjustments to the throttle body or TPS, and suddenly the car drove like a "normal" car without those characteristic issues....so you decide, was the TPS or the ECU/EFI itself to blame?

As long as the TPS has a clean sweep between open and closed with a multi meter what's the difference between new and used? If it works it works. It saves you $200+ in the process. I'm just stating that the two TPS/TB combos I've bought in the past were almost spot on in the sealed position with a clean sweep so no real adjustment needed. Just bolt on and drive your car for $50-75. I bought the combos because someone go in and tampered with all the cams and plate clearances before I bout the cars so it was difficult to dial in.
I would say life expectancy, you buy a "good" used tps thats 20 something years old its bound to fail sooner than a brand new one. And then i would be on the hunt for another "good" used tps for 50 dollars to have the same thing happen.
