New TII owner wants your input

I just bought a 87 TII engine is questionable. I am considering dropping in a streetportded 88 J-spec TII w/ new apex seals from mazdaracing.com.
Lets forget the engine for the moment. I am in the process of selling an 89GTU so I am new to the turbo thing but I'm sure its going to be fast.
Here is where you come in I have about 5k to spend on this car and I want most of it in the engine bay. What do you suggest I do? Be prepared for ?'s from me I am try to learn as much as I can find on TII's.
It will be a street racer 90% of the time. Maybe a trip of two to the 1/4 mile track and possible future solo racing. But that will come later. I am more interested in making a very fast street car. I have a 50-100 hp NOS system for the car on top of everything else. If it is realistic I would like to see 350hp from this car w/o NOS. If it will cost more then I want to upgrade w/ that hp figure in the plans so I do not have to change things as I can afford to up the ante.

5K should get you the engine and most of the typical "stage 1" performance mods including downpipe, performance cat, performance exhaust, performance intake, cold air box, stamped headlight air scoop, etc..

You might could squeeze in a Front Mount Intercooler and performance radiator if you do the work yourself.

Anything else and your into "stage 2" including ECU, larger fuel injectors, etc...

I think alot of how the money is spent hinges on what your local smog laws are, how much you have to comply to them and how much of the work you are going to perform yourself. Can you run a full race exhaust? Can you go to stand alone engine management? Can you swap in a Cosmo 13bt?

5 whole grand huh? i could have serious fun with that. first off, intake and exhaust. intake can be homemade or storebought. mine is homemade and works good. most noticeable $18 mod you can do. or for around $150 you can get a good apex or greddy intake and itll probly fit better. next step is exhaust. im fond of the apex N1 cat-back series. if you can get away with it get a downpipe and midpipe so you will lose the cats. after that i would do suspension. some good shocks and springs will be your best improvement in handling without going to a race coilover setup. i seriously advise these mods especially if you want to solo race. buy some good sticky tires and you should have a 13 second car on your hands. if you have any money left get a turbo timer, boost gauge and egt gauge so you can keep your car safe and running right. http://www.rxecret7.com http://www.rx7.com http://www.srx7.com http://www.corksport.com these are some sites you should become familiar with now that you have a T2 as they have tons of mods and support for the car. good luck
