New RX-7 in town.....

Owner can't drive it though. No license, yet. (No permit actually).

Anyway, he's a good friend of mine, from here in town... (Gulf Breeze, FL).

The car was brought to him by his uncle - I believe it's a base model. I'll show pictures here in a second, maybe you guys can tell me.

Anyway, it's a really nice car....And very nice engine.

So far he did, but still not done yet:

1. So far the engine has been rebuilt and ported.
2. He changed the final drive alittle for more top speed.
3. Tuned the car - new gaskets, hoses, spark plugs, etc.

That's all I know now...

but what he told me in email last night (quoted from it):

"Somethiing bad with REX that can be fixed though...I gotta get a new
rotor
my uncle has had 3 rx-7's and he said that whenever I put my car
into
3rd gear it might just bust! so that wont ake long...minor."

Anyone know??

Oh, and pics below.

His car:

His freshly new rebuilt and ported motor :drools:

Well, Like I told you on aim, I don't think it's him per se... His uncle is the one that told him that whenever he goes into 3rd gear, the engine might "bust" and break a rotor.

I replied to him last night and said...

"I don't think it'll bust, but I do believe if you can't get into 3rd gear, either one of these choices:

1. synchros are bad.
2. need new tranny oil.
3. bushings are bad - need to be replaced.

"

But i could be wrong....

edit:

biorotary... that's what I'm saying, but I think I understand some of it..... I dunno...

He's not that "literated" in rx-7s, and I don't think his uncle is either....

But can I ask a question .. as he appears not to understand, and i'm not sure what he's referring too?

How can going into 3rd gear mess up your rotor?
