new pics - 1st stage upgrades & varios projects

Here's some of the 1st stage parts I've gotten in and some other projects I'm working on.

(btw - I wish that sony 2.1 megapixel camera would drop to $299, $400 is too much to spend. These "disposable" camera pics below suck in comparison)

First up is the mariah cold air box and perf. air intake.

Here's the stamped freshair headlight scoop:

Here's that border racing corner dash gague pod. This will go on the passengers side so it looks OEM (double bubble dash).

Here's why the cooling panel is an essential upgrade:

Here's the cupholder mod I'm working on:

RX-7 license plate border.

New nose - I think I'll leave it black - looks good in comparison to the dark blue.

Replacement fog lamps - which have some damage.

I was inspired by the 3rd gen guys blacking out their rear lights.
WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THIS?

And some dueling mazda action:

Yes both do have moonroof wind guards on top

RX-7 GT,

Somewhere between $125-$155 I think just for the cold air box and perf. air intake.

Bigmike,

I think it was around $40 from Mazda. The rx7 license plate frame was from ebay. I can't find the company who made it though on the web. It came from "UBI - Universal Brass Incorporated" and the product was called "Jewelry for Cars."

It is really high quality - not the crappy crome plated plastic like most frames.

IdentiD FC,

Give 'em a call and see. They might make one specifically for K&N.

baix2,

I believe it's fiberglass which can be painted (the whole point of getting a professionally made one )

Erik,

I think it came from mazdasalvage out of california. I found about 4 mazda salvage yards by going over to copartfinder.com, registering, searching for mazda, rx-7, 1989-1992, and frame. The pictures of the cars it what makes copartfinder.com the best

The nose is in "good shape." I still need some bondo work done to remove the hole & indention from the @#$^% front licensplate previously on there. Thank goodness Georgia doesn't require front plates. I also have 2 coats of wax in those pictures.

Mariah uses a K&N filter on the cold air box correct? That's what it looks like it says from what I can see on the bag.

Also, how do you like the build quality of the box? Is it sturdy? If you've already installed it, was the fitment really good? Or did you have to do some banging?

Yeah, I know a lot of questions, I was just intrigued when I saw this on Mariah's site a few months back. Everyone else seems to focus on FDs. Nice to see people still making new products for FCs.

It did match up correctly with the OEM bolt/screw holes and the quality seems great.

They took their time to re-tool their setup to work on the 89-92s, so the fit was good.

Still have the OEM air box on. Before doing the perf air intake I'm waiting for the mickey mouse gague pod. That one will go on the US drivers side for boost and air/fuel. The US passengers side corner dash pod will have exhaust temp, coolant temp, and the aftermarket ECU readout units.
