WA new member about to buy

Hi im a new member and looking at buying a 2nd gen rx7.. specifically an '86.. i figured id get some questions answered first.. what kind of highway MPGs does a stock n/a 13b get? how hard are these rotary engines to work on? how easy is it to get parts for them.. all ive ever worked on is old american cars and this will be a new experience.

I would start by reading the FAQ, but the MPG is really dependent on how you drive and the condition of the motor. I would expect 18 -20 MPG on a good day. As far as working on them, I would say its easy but then again I am biased.

They're not any harder to work on than any other car, just different. As long as you can understand a FSM, you shouldn't have any problems. Parts are more expensive than usual though.

Whether or not it makes a good daily driver will depend on the condition of the motor, I've daily driven mine for a year and a half with very few problems and I know a few people who have done it for quite a few years more. Again it all depends on how the car was maintained, mileage etc.

http://spokane.craigslist.org/car/519950396.html

this is the car im thinking about getting if i get my other car sold.. he said the car has under 100,000 miles on it and the fresh 13b has under 16,000.. and hes putting all new tires on it, new master brake cylinder, u-joints, everything to get it running good.. hes seilling it cheap cause he has a '90 turbo rx7 with too much money into it and he wants to finish it..

I'd say it's worth it, the 2+2 is somewhat rare, plus it has 5-lug and larger brakes.

s4 n/a's (1986-1988) came from the factory with about 146hp at the flywheel, I have no idea how much they actually put down to the ground but they aren't fast if that's what your looking for. Speedo tops out at 140mph though, to answer your question.

normal stuff like spark plugs, filters and whatnot can usually be found at a Napa, Autozone, Checker/Kragens or if you want to get price raped you can check out a Mazda dealership. Someone on the forum usually will have what your looking for if it comes to something a bit more "hard to come by" like manifolds, interior parts, body peices and the like, just look in the for sale section and if you don't find it post up a WTB thread just be sure to abide by forum rules when doing so.

well you've come to the right place, be sure to use the FAQ to it's full advantage and use the search feature, if you can't find it then put up a new thread. Good luck with whatever car you wind up purchasing and welcome!
