new jdm in , alot of white smoke out!!!

ok, so I got my new motor in and stated it up and WOW, there is alot of white smoke. I know old engines after sitting for awhile blow out white smoke for alittle bit but this is bad. I have a slight leak where the turbo and downpipe connect and it's blowing smoke out there too. but there seams to be oil in it and it smells like I'm burning oil. I can see it blowing some oil out of the leak I have. I let it ran for about 5 min. and it didn't start to clear up. the engine runs fine so far and oil pressure is good. I would like to think it's the turbo it's self that has a internal oil leak, could this be right? I'm swapping turbo's sense I have an extra one to see if it fixs it at all. does any one think it could be somthing in the engine? please let me know before I do somthing stupid and take the whole thing back out again.

Does the smoke have a sweet smell?
If so, it could be your coolant seals...
Hate to sound pessimistic... But yea... Give it a sniff...

More than likely is a toasted oil seal, I'd wager my bet that it's the engine's oil seal and not the turbo. This is the risk you run when dealing with used jspec motors.

Well if your leaking oil form the turbo, chances are its also leaking into the turbine.. So I'm going to go with a blown turbo.

good luck.

It's quite common to have so much oil flow through the turbo from a blown engine seal that it leaks @ the downpipe. Your best bet would be to remove the turbo and look at the exhaust ports on the engine, you'll be able to tell right away if one of them is bad (the thing will be completely black)
