new head unit install but no sound

hey everyone. i have a 88t2 with a perfect uncut radio harness. i spliced in the new head units harness following the faq. the only thing i didnt wire up was the amp wire. i did a quick test and the radio turned on and seemed fine except for the fact that none of the speakers workedf. i rechecked the diagram and everything is wired in correctly. so my question is this-does the factory amp need to wired in to power all of the speakers?

Which amp(s) are you using. Do you want to just use the amp in the head unit or the amps that came with the factory stereo. If you want to just rely on the head unit amp you installed then the factory amps would have to be bypassed.

When I first got my car, that is one of the first things I installed was the radio. I pulled the stock amps and relied only on the head unit amp. Draw back to that is I had to run the wiring myself.
