New guy, New to RX-7's too

hi, Im sinfestboy Im getting my first RX-7 soon, thinking FC3S, pure performance, not street legal, RACE CAR.

Let me explain myself

About a month and a half ago, I got to ride shotgun in my cousins friends FC3S RX-7. It was HEAVILY worked on, and almost compleatly stripped. It was great. Then he flipped his dual stage boost controller and went from 5 psi to 15 PSI
Then I **** my pants.
wait, I didnt **** my pants yet. I **** my pants when he told me that he had spent a grand total of 10k on his car.
I ride a daily driven, S14 SR20DET equipped 240 SX, and I'm looking for..... whats the right word.... Beater?..... Race car?....... NOT daily driver?
Oh, I got it, something I can beat my other car with, spending under 10k!

so anyways, I know how a rotary works, and that porting is like camshafts, and thats pretty much it. I am just introducing myself, and saying why I am now with you. howdie doodie. Expect lots of questions.

sinfestboy,

So are you planning to strip the rx7 or keep her as a dialy driver

Yeah that's what sweet about the rotaries - MASSIVE HP/torque capability without affecting engine life too much. That and mazda's sweet 2nd gen chassis.

Besides RAW 0-60 1/4 mile times, they handle curves exceptionally. You'd be amazed at how much stuff is available to push these cars from supercars to exotic supercars. The prodragsters (not street legal) are using the 3 rotor engine to push 7 second 1/4 mile times.

Besides a great supercar, the international following from car enthusiest is the next best part of having an rx7

There's a bunch of stuff to choose from (bodykits, performance upgrades, turbos, accessories), so have a looksee around

well, its gonna be stripped, not a daily driver, and definately not street legal. I also dont care at all about looks for this car... Its gonna be the car I use to freak people out when they see my sil40 and say "what kind of moron does that many visual mods?"

I do search, but I have lots of wierd questions.

actually, Its gonna be my "learning" car. Its gonna be what I drive to learn how to heel-toe, drift, powershift, etc, etc, etc. but I do plan on taking good care of it.

the key word is NA RACING, the GTU's were the best NA models, they didn't have anything that wasn't necessary on a racer pretty much. Alot of the Turbo II's are heavily optioned with things like PS and A/C, so the GTU is a bare bones RX7 with racing in mind, but not faster than a Turbo II.

Sinfestboy,

The GTUs was designed with the rules of many racing circuits in mind (aka no turbos).

Yes the TIIs are definitly designed and fiitted with racing in mind (extra heavy duty drivetrain, industrial turbo, larger vented brakes, rear steer, beffier suspension, bigger wheels, etc..
