new guy needs help...

I just bought an 87 Rx7 GXL (non turbo) a week ago for $400. The body is in excellent shape and the interior isnt bad either. The engine wasnt siezed up so I figured maybe I could get it running. I got it home and went to work. One of the first things I did was drain the oil. To my surprise instead of oil I saw about 2 quarts of WATER followed by chocolate milk (emulsified oil). I'm wondering if this engine can possibly be saved. I have been working my butt off to just get it started. I changed the oil twice now and now it looks like oil. I also changed the spark plugs and removed all the fuel injectors (4) and cleaned them and they are spraying. The engine refuses to start. I just don't get it...the engine has fuel and spark but just won't start. It will run for 3-5 seconds using starter fluid then dies immediately. I tried the unflood trick (removing plugs and putting atf and cranking and all that) but to no avail. Sometimes the engine will almost start...like it hits a couple times and then just cranks. I'm at the end of my rope. Please help.

Your probably going to have to pull start it. But first, you need to make sure that the ENTIRE intake system is intact from the air box back. There can be NO leaks, and NO section of hose may be missing.

Pull the trailing (top) spark plug on the front rotor and get someone to crank the motor... should hear three, even, distinct, loud pweeeeshes. do the same with the rear rotor... if you have a bad apex seal,, you will hear two dead sounds and a good one, or all dead ones.

HOWEVER... I'll bet my left nad that the engine is puked.... water in the oil is never a good thing my man... never

The car ran today! Even if it was just for about 10 seconds IT RAN!!! Using no starter fluid or anything I cranked it and it fired right up on the first crank and idled nicely then I gave it a bit of gas and it revved up easily. Then it puttered and died and that was it. So today I moved (push pulled and towed) it into the backyard (at my parents house) and covered it with a tarp where it will sit for the next 8 months or so while I am in basic training and tech school (air force). I'm hoping when I get back I'll have the cash saved to get this engine rebuilt or drop a working one in.

I wonder if it was bad gas! Ha Ha. Just kidding, good luck and have fun down at Lackland. Texas is hot!! I was B52 specialist. Good time! Don't want to do basic again, but good anyway!
