new guy with a few problems
hey people, just startin up on this forum. i was on here a lot researching things before i got my 7 (1990 n/a gtu). n now that i've finally got one of my own, i got a couple questions for all u pros in here.
here goes...well, when i'm accelerating in any gear, the check engine light comes on once i have the pedal about halfway down. if i let up a little it turns off. could something be wrong or is it just the light?
second question...when i'm making u-turns it feels like all the power in the engine just cuts out. i mean, it doesn't die or n/e thing...it just feels like i'm engine braking all of a sudden. once i straighten out tho...it's fine again. i've tried it with a full tank of gas, at low and higher rpm's, n it still does the same thing almost every time. what do u all think the problem might b?
anyway, thanks in advance everybody! u guyz reallie helped me out in my decision to buy an rx7. n even tho she has a lot of problems rite now, it makes me smile everytime i see her in my parking space...knowing that she's all mine! hehehe...n/e wayz...thanks for the help everybody!
*oh wait, i also have one more question. i searched for this before n i kinda found tha answer, but i just wanna make sure. well, tha automatic seatbelts in my s5 r messed up...but mazda did have a factory recall on them right? so is it true that i can take it to a mazda dealership n they'll fix it 4 free? n/e wayz...thanks again!

If the car sounds like it's running good, I wouldn't worry about the check engine lights. Alot of us don't even have working warning panels. As far as the turning and the engine almost dieing... I guess replace the oil in the differential and see if that helps any. I can't think of anything else that might affect the car laterally like that.
Well... if you have a place that can check the light, go for it. There aren't alot of engine codes though. Just listen for pinging noises, especially when climbing hills. That can be caused by bad timing. If it's an air/fuel ratio thing, give up, you'll never solve that problem unless you go standalone.

Does your check engine light only come on when you just start the car? does it go away after your engine is warmed up?
As for your seatbelts, yes there is a recall through mazda. I had mine replaced as well, they had to order the parts which took a few days and took them a few hours to replace both motors and tracks. I would take your A pillar covers off yourself if you can, unless they are already cracked or broken up because the dealership will not be as gentle, its old plastic and cracks very easily and they will tell you up front they are not responsible if it gets broken.
Good luck with the car.
