New FC

I finally got my second FC last week. Bought a 89 GXL from the local car lot after staring at it everyday for the last 3 months. I had to tow her via trailer all teh way to the garage, broke at least 10 laws doing it, and now I get to post the pics of her. I have not touched her at all, except i pulled the battery to charge it, put on a steerign wheel cover and put in the floor mats from my brothers totaled saturn. Enjoy and comment, shes not perfect and will need work.

await next post for more pics of the front

And yes, my 88 SE is in the background of that one shot up there....the primer works real well in dettering theft along with no workign outside handles.

The interior is almost all there....a bit of trim over the left door, a new steering wheel and maybe new door panels if i feel froggy.

And yes the engine bay has been unmolested as well....at least until i get ahold of it. I will be changing fluids and filters as soon as im able. She currently cranks up with a bit of time, a stronger battery would work better though. She pulls all teh way to 8 grand when i finally let her warm up but she wont move very easily. I belive it has somethign to do with the TPS or the clutch cylinders. ask me what youd like to know and we might have answers for possible questions lol.

So far....my only plans for her are to get her running better. No mods in her future except a new suspension to replace the stock crap. I have lots of body work to do so new fenders, nose, and bumper along with a new oem wing are going to be needed, but other than all that...well and a stereo...but thats last like paint.

thanks for the enthusiasm and such. Shes going to be daily driven while I put the 88 down for its upgrades...already lost a muffler from vibrations.

Well...i fi woulda been thinking when i was doing all the signing and such...I will end up paying 2500 for her....too much i know. But eh at 50 a week and only 800 down for tags taxes and all the bs associated. I have a relatively good idea of whats wrong. The clutch cylinders are bleeding fluid onto the clutch itself and causing some nice smelling smoke....the car wont idle at all, i blame a tps sensor or some vacuum lines. But all the hoses and fluids are going to be changed next week when i can afford it all. And hopefully I can get to see mr. landers this weekend for a few partrs and maybe some tech support for both cars in person.

Agreed. I actually love the lines of the S5's so much that she wont see a body mod other than sleek lights if she gets to that point, unlike my S4 which is recieving a full body kit and sleek lights along with rims and other bs.

True, though in contrast....I paid 800 for my 88...and she ran just fine. I even got a 87 long block and the original 88 longblock(blown of course, got the rear rotor to prove it) plus the runnign 88 inside the bay so i got asteal of a deal then and am paying for it now

Do you plan on keeping those floormats and steering wheel cover? If so, please reconsider.

The wheel cover is a no. It was laying in the back of the 88 for 3 months from when it was in my thuderbird. The floor mats on teh other hand have inspired me for the future paint scheme of teh car and interior feel. I know it sounds ricerish but the car may end up going to my brother for the full price of every part and mod I do to it myself....might fund a turbo project.

Yeah, the N/A is more fun for a DD, ill have 2 n/a's until i get that foot on a turbo shell. Thanks for the support and I hope shes not as big a monster as this 88...

Update:

Got a tune up done, well for the most part. Changed the oil, which reaked of gas. Changed oil filter. Replaced fuel filter, finally managed to bleed while workign on the car, didnt even bust a knuckle swappign motors in my other rex. charged teh battery and waited. put in nearly new plugs from one of teh multiple dornor motors I have lying around, much better than teh ones that were in it. Put 2 gallons of gas into the tank and let the battery charge some more.

I Started her up and remembered teh TPS needed checked/replaced so she didnt idle at all, put the battery to charge again and this time went and fixed a grounding issue, the ground from teh firewall to teh transmission had rotted off. Battery charged and adjustment made to the throttle cable itself, got her started and idling at 1500rpm. Yeah I know thats high but she was still acting like crap. When I repressurized the fuel system teh pump made a sucking sound, could have been from teh lack of fuel in teh tank or a clogged pump sock, will find out when i get a full tank into her.

I pulled her outta the garage, remembered teh clutch and related systems were about gone and had to dump the clutch just to get moving. Parked her in her space next to the jeeps and let her run while i cleaned up shop. The idle sounded like ****, would rev then bog, rev then bog. May be due to clogged injectors or lack of fuel in teh system.

Thats all ive done so far, well that and remove teh ricer lights from teh hood. Any comments and insights to my new/ongoing problems is welcomed.
