New engine installed - all kinds of problems!!

I finally got my new 13B TII installed last night and I started her up and I am having all kinds of problems. For one, it is very hard to get the engine to stay idling, it keeps wanting to stall. It also idles very rough (I don't see any air hoses that I missed) and seems to me as though it is running rich. On top of all of this, it overheats very easily. The water pump is turning and I haven't checked the top radiator hose for pressure yet, but I'm pretty sure the pump is in working condition. I also got a new radiator, so I don't see why it would be that. it is a stock replacement rad from rx7online.com, incase any of you know anything weird about it. Could all of these problems be caused by bad timing? this is horrible, i just want to cruise.

thanks for all of your help

Check your thermostat, make sure it isn't installed upside down. I don't know about the other stuff, but it sounds like a vacuum leak to me.

Hands down, the most common things that go wrong when installing a new motor are vacuum leaks and having the timing way off. There's a fine art to stabbing in the crank angle sensor, and it's a real pain to properly get the hang of it.

If you're overheating super bad, it might be a timing issue. Also make triple-sure your plug wires are on properly as well.

so could putting the crank angle sensor in a certain way affects timing? How do I put it in correctly and how do I check my timing?
