Ok, my car was backed into and needed a new door, I have an '88 SE n/a. It has manual windows mirrors and factory alarm. I got a new door, good condition for 50 bucks and its the same color, it has manual windows, electric mirrors and I assume no alarm. so I had no problem putting the door on, except the wiring, there are 3 more wires on my car than on the door. So I figured that I just need to match what I had, so I matched the wires that were paired, and left the extras. Now, the problem. If I dont try to run the radio, the door ajar light is off. but when I try to turn the radio on it blinks, and the radio dimly blinks (if thats a word haha) I assume this has something to do with the wiring but I have no clue! what should I do? help please, and info would be great. Not all the door harnesses are the same. You probably would be better off to use your old wiring harness from your old door.

 

I couldent find a plug anywhere though? Is there a plug somewhere back in the door, the new door that I got the wires had just been cut, so assumed thats what you had to do? Thanks

 

Nope, the plug/s are under the dash , behind the kick panel. There should be (I think) two plugs. Get you a good light and pull the kick panel off. You should be ablt to see where they plug in. Just unplug them, snake them back throught the hole reinstall in reverse order.

Nope. No door speakers on any S4 coupes I've seen and I'm pretty sure theres not any. The front ones are on the bottom part of the dash.

 

yeah, there isnt any door speakers they are up near the steering colum and there isnt a blown fuse, the radio is still getting power. I didnt know there was a plug, so ill take it all back apart tommarrow and see if I can use the plug for the door harness, I hope that fixes it, Im starting to hear a bunch of weird noises coming from the car, unknows rattles, wierd rear end noise ect with out a radio, haha. thanks for all the help guys, I will update.
