ok i have a problem but its ok problem.... if you know what i mean ok heres the problem i slightly crashed my car not very much damage just looked like i need new font bumper and quarter panel and headlight assembly. well i bought an after market body kit because s5 front bumpers are impossible to find. so then i resume to take off front bumper and find there is frame damage.. i take it to shop to see how much it would cost to fix and to see how much body kit would be to paint and install the cost came to almost $2,800 and my car is only worth maybe like 4-5 grand so heres the deal my friend has red s4 with s5 jdm t2 motor with 40,xxx miles on motor it needs new door and both quarter panels and since i've always helped him work on his car he will give it to me for $1,500 ( no mechanical problems)... i was thinking put my parts on his car hopefully there is no frame damage on his car and then get it painted since it is diff color. What should i do? i need sopme suggestions please ASAP... any help greatly appreciated.

 

Is your car a turbo? (I'm assuming so since you say its worth 4-5k) Because if it isn't that sounds like a decent deal regardless (assuming those are front and not rear quarter panels)

Get an estimate of what they would charge to put the kit on his car and paint it, cuz if it's only $2700 then you haven't really gained anything.

If the difference in the estimate for your car and his car is $1500 or more, you shoud do it in a heart beat.

 

i would get the s4 for that price tag. keep your car and do some swaps. paint jobs might be pricy for something that looks decent, but a drop in the bucket for the final outcome. just my two cents though.

 

First go to an alignment shop/etc. and ask them how bad your alignment is screwed up thanks to that frame. If it's salvageable (preferably without unbending the frame), continue on...

You can get a parts car for $100-$300. A decent body front to back is $500. Junkyards sell panels for about $30 each. An new panel OTOH is $500 and getting one painted is $300. Keep hunting for used panels, it'll save you a fortune. Painting them is still an issue, even if you DIY. You may have to bite the bullet there or go flat black or unpainted (installed as-is).

 

ive decided to buy my friends 1988 t2 with an s5 jdm motor swap with like 40,000 miles. im getting it for 1500 since it needs some body work like new front quarter panels and mayb a front bumper, wat im going to do is put my s5 quarter panels on it and mayb my full body kit later down the line then paint it some sick color..... any suggestions on a sick color for the car?

 

well im painting mine flat black with matte black wheels,but my last t2**R.I.P**was blue and it looked sick
