new cold air intake

okay, so yesterday i redid my intake. cut a hole in the rad mount and assembled some 3" internal diameter pipng through and up in front of the rad. probably not too different than everyone elses design, but most were for s5's. mine is s4. i used just a plain cone filter and the adapter plate.

results- i thionk i regained all the lost low end from removing my aux ports, quite a bit better before 4000, quite a bit.
as for the top end, great, it really wants to go above 7000 now, felt good to 7500 like it still wanted to make more power.

i will post pics when i get a batterry for my camera.

i used to have a cold air box, seemed to work, the element was cooler than without any box ata all. but now that i have the filter up in the front, it is much cooler, the whole pipe seems cooler even on the engine side of the maf sensor. definetely worth the time to make and install, the car is much quicker, even a little quieter from inside

Yea, I'd like to see how you got the big old Air Filter to make clearance.
(As opposed to the s5 open Air Filter, more slender than the s4).

Yes both can be done (s4 & s5) but with the s4 It's significantly a bigger Air Filter (cone). Atleast my K&N Filtercharger Is. We are talking about cone filters here, aren't we?

I bought the engine, turbo/exhaust, ecu, knock sensor, and wiring harness for $400. Going to install new apex seals before I install it. Should be pretty quick when I get done with it, I dont like slow cars

you are going to need to do more than just have a turbo to make it fast though, but you are on a good start.

same idea as that pic, but not really at all like that since that is a custom rad, mine goes down into the front nose of the car, it is a pretty straight pipe with a small bend at the maf. i will get pics up soon, sorry I am in the middle of moving and very busy with other things.

abecx-- what other goodies you got in mind? its s4 right

how did you do that in the pic? Did you move your radiator closer to your engine. Currently there isnt enough room in my 86 n/a. Is that for a turbo only? I know some guys do that and put the intercooler in front. Is there a kit to move your radiator or did you just do that?
