New cat install now weird idle...

Well I finished installing my new cat today and i started her up and she did the pulsing idle at 1500 like she normally does for a little bit but then usually when she warms up she drops to like 800 well for some reason she never dropped... and I am not fully sure why... i dont see how a cat could do this... also all i have is a cat back exhaust and the new cat and for some reason I think I am hitting fuel cut... is this even possible?

at the end of second gear like 6krpms or so it feels like my car just stops pulling and it feels like there is no fuel...

just trying to figure out what this may be... also my car smokes quite a lot untill it warms up is this normal?

Well, white smoke generally means coolant in the engine. Did it smoke before you installed the cat at all? Maybe the new cat is clogged somehow. Where did you get it and what brand? Also, when you hit fuel cut its a sharp jerk and stutter, not an overall loss of power.

well yea when i hit fuel cut it just feels like the car falls flat on its face... i take my foot off the gas and then get back on it and it feels ok sometimes... so I am not fully sure what is going on with that... also there was white smoke prior to the install and it seems like if i run it for a little while the smoke goes away completely

ok well i have the idle set screw all the way in and when the car is warmed up it sits at 1000 rock solid so I am not sure what the issue may be it seems the tps may need to be adjusted again so I am going to do that tomorrow I believe... hopefully this will fix it and I will be able to finally get it on the road...

Also it is wierd my battery doesnt ever seem to want to hold a charge... I can put it on the charger and it will start right up but if i leave it off the charger or turn off the car for 5 minutes and try to restart it it just dies... the battery was tested good though so I have no idea what could be the problem... any ideas?

did you hook the EGR pipe up to the cat when you put the new one on? sounds like you have some bad grounding, check to see that you didnt knock any off, bad grounding plus a bad voltage regulator will create a parasitic battery drain, also, bad grounding will give effed up messages to the ECU. check these things before you go tearing off parts

as far as the cat goes i dont really know but for the dead battery thing its your alt. most likely . its not charging the battery so the car is running off of the battery and killing it. that just my thoughts
