New to the board. Have a few questions

I just recently purchased a 86 GXL for 1k with 140k miles. Im plannin on using this as a track car and using my 93 mr2 for a street car. Im new to rotorys so please guide me as best you can. I'm not new to boards, so I know to use the search function.

1. I need engines with power. Where do you guys get your engines at ? (I know www.venus-auto.com is a place to get some engine clips. )
2. What is the best bang for buck - engine wise that will fit into this 86 body?, and what options do I have?
3. this is just for fun, but where can I get a 4 rotor engine. ( if this is worth it, I may just do this)

1) A turbo motor is the only easy way you are going to get power in your GXL, theres a few places like fc3s.org/corksport.com, etc.
2) A turboII motor, do a search theres a lot covering it
3) You can't, and if you have to ask you cant afford to get one made

Turbo is the only real way to go for a 'lot' of power. You've got a couple of options, replace the engine, or turbo the non-turbo engine.

Well only the 787b and that new car have 4 rotors and I bet they're like a million dollars. A 3 rotor is more doable if money is no object. I heard something to the tune of 10-12 installed. If you're not ready for a turbo conv., try freeing up some of the potential you got now.
1.Get a true CAI and let the engine breathe all the way to your mufflers, if you have any.
2.Switch the exhaust to a much bigger header, big straight pipe, to huge single. (no cat if only track)
3.Bigger Injectors, new plugs and wires
4.Take off all the crap you don't need ie. rats nest with AC, power steering, etc.
5. No more OMP and start premixing
6. Short shifter and new clutch + lightweight flywheel
7. Better radiator if you will be redlining all day
8. Maybe a TII hood to cool the engine off some more

You could also go get some extreme port jobs done, like a massive bridge or something but again, thats a bit pricey.

Some problems with the above advice:

A) you'll almost NEVER need larger injectors on a non-turbo vehicle
B) You'll never tax the stock radiator, unless you're a retard holding it at 9k rpm for a half hour
C) A header on a stock port car isn't a good idea, Racing Beat themselves says this right on their website. The stock manifold makes more power than the header on stock ports.
D) There's no reason to remove the OMP unless it's broke and not working to start with

oil metering pump, it injects oil into your rotors.

Oil metering pump. It determines how much oil to send to the oil injectors to be injected into the motor.

also.. how do you get the car to redline at 9k when the redzone is 7k? there is that weird buzzer sound when you get close to it..

I dont think I want to spend any money on this engine if im going to swap it out. a TII seems to be a good choice.

You DONT redline at 9k. You have a s4, your redline is 7-7.5k, there's no point in beating the crap out of the car by over-revving it. It's fine to drive the car out to 7k rpm, but there's no reason to sit there and try to make it go higher.
