New to board... Few questions.

I am 20 and looking to buy a 1987 rx-7 turbo. it has 156,000 km and is going for 3800 obo. i want the low down on these kool cars like what the common problems are and like what should i look out for.

I know these are fast cars with lots of potential for big hp gains and i know that if i do buy this car i will be modifying it to it full capacity. most likely will be a never ending project car.

Anyways I am here seeking some knowledge of the car b4 investing and would like to hear what you guys got to say.

THX IN ADVANCED!!

welcome to the board.

just a note, there's a little button on the top left section of the screen that says "search" on it. you should use this as much as possible because lots of people get very angry.

oh, and this is from a thread below

hey thx alot that helped out alot. i took the time to read over the article on wanting to buy a turbo rx-7.

how easy is it to get hold of aftermarket parts for these cars??? also are these cars ez to work on?

how much power can the original engine and internals hold up to? i am looking to make at least 350+ hp with little effort can this be done?

Parts are vast. Easy to work on if your a competent mechanic. That much power would need an upgraded turbo, fuel system, exhaust, intake, and somekind of computer upgrade to control everything. and a rebuild before hand would make it last alot longer.

again, you should search for these kinda things before you ask, but i belive its 183 hp (200 for the 89 - 91 models)

there are plenty of sites that will tell you upgrade paths, what you need to get to certain hp ratings....
