New Bönez Street Comp Intake won't fit

I got a new Bonez Street Comp Intake today and tried to put it in but there is a heat shield in the way which coveres up some electronic components. I am not sure what they are but it is sitting on top of it and the bar that holds up the roof can’t get into the right position to close the hood.

Any thoughts? Do I have to relocate that part it is sitting on?

I included some pics.

Thanks!

Never mind, I just relocated the two speed fuel pump relay and resistor box to where the new strap is that is holding down the filter and it fits now!

Shoot, i would reconsider relocating it to the rear by the fuel pump. I was amazed at the voltage drop it gopt in the stock location. There is a write-up on fc3spro.org if not mistaken.

You got your AFM on sideways. That's not good.

You will need to put it back in the facing the right way and secure it.

There's a good write up about this on aaroncake.net

http://www.aaroncake.net/RX-7/intake.htm

I'm thinking about doing this, but looking at Aaron's pictures, and your pictures, I was surprised to see neither application uses a box to isolate the filter from the hot engine compartment air.

These forums are littered with conflicting posts on:

a: Whether or not installing an aftermarket intake does anything over installing the K&N drop in filter into the stock airbox.

and

b: Whether or not installing an aftermarket intake does anything without isolating it from the rest of the engine compartment - or that the aftermarket intake may be WORSE than the stock airbox without isolation.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?https://www.rx7club.com/images/smilies/scratchhead.gif
