New 88 FC

Well i just picked this up yesterday. Its an 88 base, 245xxx on the chassis, and about 1500 on the motor. Interior is blue and in pretty good shape for its age, only thing broke is the bezel around the radio area. The motor is a full bridgeport converted to a holley carb setup, it has 84 se 4 port irons and 88 s4 na housings and internals. The guy i bought it from had been trying to sell it but got impatient so he started parting it out. He sold the intake and carb He also took out the stock ignition system and installed 2 msd coils, but he sold the rest of the ignition system in the "part-out"...... So all i have is the 2 coils and no wiring.
Its going to be A TON of work, but i wanted something to keep me busy around the house, apparently im driving my wife crazy..... I plan on doing a holley setup again, i have not figured out what im going to do for an ignition system, and i plan on doing an s5 5 lug swap. I figure that will keep me busy for now and then more later

shouldn't be too horrendous, get a dizzy and leads, buy a 51mm. ida and mani have it jetted for bridgey, done (over simplified explanation) throw some gilmours on and k & n filter on the ida and you'll be rolling NZ styles. plus it'll sound mean!

SirCygnus,
Well im going carb for now because the injector holes are filled with devcon, and i dont want to go throttle body and standalone at the moment.

ben.farnath,
Im torn between an IDA or holley setup, im going to shop around and see whats out there. Also im going to get an MSD 6A and wire it with a dizzy. And randomly there where some gilmour pulleys on some non-rx7 parts n the back of the car when bought it.

The S4 bezel always gets brittle and cracks. You can upgrade to the more durable rubber-type S5 bezel if you also install S5 AC grilles above the bezel.

A 4-port bridge port usually works best with a Holley 650 or Weber 51 IDA. The bad thing about the Holleys is that they require some modifications in order to work well on a rotary, so you would need to have one modified by Racing Beat or a similar rotary shop, or otherwise modify it yourself if your carb skills are at the professional level.

You may also want to check and make sure the previous owner installed a proper low-pressure fuel pump. I have seen a lot of ignorant conversions that retained the stock EFI pump.

I actually like the 4-lug wheels. They are light, the tires are less expensive, and the brakes work just fine for street and autocross use. Since your engine will produce about 190kW, then you may want the larger 5-lug wheels, but I don't foresee see any crisis if you stick with the 4-lugs.

For the ignition sistem do GLE-SE or 12A electronic distributor with 2 MSD coils and boxes, plenty of spark for that angry bridgeport, stick with a holley,a double pumper with mechanical secondaries is what we used to run back in the day.

That intake is for a old school 4 port block(pre 85 13b)or a 13b build with 12a plates and i doubt that you have a old motor in yours. That is a downgrade if they replace the 6 port motor with that plus you have 2 address motor mounts and some other stuff 2 make it fit on your chassis.
