Never buy in XTD clutch . . .

We had Action put it on their pressure test machine that tests the clamp pressure, and also a stock Aisin Toyota pressure plate. The XTD clutch was actually 100ft/lbs LESS then the other stock unit we tested. His Ebay auction clearly states the XTD pressure plate is "35% thicker heavy duty" spring in it. I measured the XTD and stock springs, they are exactly the same thickness. He is clearly lying, and fooling people into thinking the XTD clutch will handle 35% more, when in fact it is stock. If you remove the XTD sticker, you will see the stock green paint mark underneath :biglaugh: If they were heat treated to increase the spring pressure, that paint would most likely have burned off, and the spring would be discolored.
Also, I looked closely at the XTD 6 puck disk. It looks like a cheap copy of the Action one. If you look at the pics in his Ebay auction at the top it is an ACTION CLUTCH KIT IN THE PICS. The one he actually ships is in the pics at the bottom. Action clutch does use a stock Aisin outer clutch cover, but the rivets are drilled out, and then the spring is upgraded and the clutch is reassembled. Other companies also do this, because Aisin is the only manufacturer of this model clutch.
Here is a link to his auction on Ebay. If you want to be overcharged for a stock pp with cheap copy 6 puck, that's up to you.

Notice the first pic on his Ebay auction is an Action Clutch pp with an XTD sticker on it. You can tell because the spring is dark black, and the pp was disassembled before painting. You can see around the inside edge at the top.
Here's what he is actually shipping:


Compared to a stock pp:

The real Action upgraded clutch has a black spring and is painted while it is disassembled. It has a 40% higher pressure spring then stock.

The real Action 6 puck has a slightly lighter color on the pucks, and has little slots in the center of each puck.

I really don't have a problem with Ebay, or Chinese made parts, what I do have a BIG problem with is people on Ebay misrepresenting the specs and performance of their parts.

That kevlar model failed way too soon.
My 6-puck XTD was doing OK for about 8K miles when the car was totaled.
It would launch really firm, but I did buzz it a few times from feathering 3rd at full boost. I was making ~240 RWHP.
Shame on XTD for the overstated specs.
I can see where a 300hp engine might be too much for it.

the previous owner put a 6 puck XTD (stage 3, i think) in my car
i like it, really light, but really strong engagement, has about 5k miles on it
i dont like having a racing clutch in a daily driver though

i will never touch another XTD clutch unless its to remove it, throw it like a frisbee or toss it in the garbage
just LOOKING at my ACT clutch the quality is immeasurable amounts higher and for $375 shipped to my door i couldn't be happier, i can't wait to throw it in with the RB chromoly flywheel ^_^

ive got a centerforce dual friction clutch and it came with a heavy duty pressure plate.
i really dont know if the pressure plate is any stiffer, doesnt feel like it. but i know it daily drives like an all organic face, but i can bark second at like 6000rpms, and if i flat-shift 3rd i get some tire (215/45/17) . hooks so much better than a stock clutch.
good for a modified N/A, but i dont know how much power it can really take.
and i always knew something was weird about XTD, glad i never bought one.

The centerforce dual friction clutch I had would stlip on my car. I did have a hybrid turbo pushing way to much boost 20psi, lol. But it surely slipped bad enough to where you could smell it when you got out of the car. I can't wait to see what the act 6puck feels like with the heavy duty pressure plate.

buy an exedy if you want clutch for stock, otherwise go ACT act is god. (yes i know there OS triple plate clutches and what not, but i'm talking reasonable priced)
my xtd stage 3 tii clutch was good to around 350 ft-lb, then started to slip. I called xtd, and he made me a custom dual spring pressure plate for it, which is now holding ~600whp. It never slips, works fine, and I drive it every day and track it once a week.
I just installed the stage 3. I havent drove the car yet but the pedal feels weak. Not what I was expecting from a stage 3 clutch. My worn out Daikin had a stiffer pedal. Is this normal?
