need some help

the other day i started my 7 and it started and then the rpms jumped from 500 to 1000 like crazy then just stalled out. this all happened in less than a second. . but then it started fine after. then later on it started and stalled twice before finally starting up normal. but ever since that its been doing fine. any body know what might of caused it?

just saw you said it did this the other day. sorry. My 88 starts up sometimes when its been cold, but when it does, it sits there and bounces the idle between 500 and 1500 rpms. i let it run for a few minutes and it goes back to normal. but if l try to drive it while it is bounceing the idle, it will just die. I have a feeling it is something vacumn hose related. your problem sounds similar so maybe you have a vacumn leak.

Could be a LOT of things.

Check for vacuum leaks, make sure the TPS is adjusted properly, make sure the BAC and ASV are not sticking/leaking.

Instructions are in the Hayne and Factory Service manuals (FAQ).
