In need of some good advise. I'm stumped

'87 rx with power windows, manual locks.
Someone tried breaking into my car, but all they maneged to do was break something inside the door latch. Now the door will not open. Those of you that know how screwed I am, thanks for cringing. Dissected and removed most of the door panel to get inside the door, door doesn't open, so door panel doesn't come out. Played with the input rods to the mechanism, but its done. Soo... how do I get the door open to replace the latch? Thank you in advance

The rod that runs from the latch mechanism to the outside door handle can be pushed down to unlatch the door. That is if you can get to that rod.

I can get to the rods, and have tried to unlock and open the latch. Neither worked.

where tyhe rods connect to the handle, there is a plastic clip thingy that holds the rod on.
ten bucks says that broke.
i broke mine two months ago with a slim jim after my keys got locked in (but it was the rod that comnnects to the swing arm on the back of the lock cylinder) i just found some irrigation drip line, stuck it in the hole in the swing arm thingy, then stuck the rod in that, and its never given me a prob.
just get creative , but remember clearences are tight!
