Need Serious Help!

Hey guys today i decided i would flush my radiator out. So went ahead and unplugged the bottom and then undid the breather on the top and ran water through my cooling system. After all the water started to come out clear i shut off the water and plugged both the bottom drain and the breather. then i took off the thermostat and replaced both the gasket and the thermostat with brand new ones. Now im filling up my radiator and it will only take half a gallon of fluid and wont let me put anymore in. When i start it it runs for about 30 seconds before the add coolant light comes on and starts blaring. Is there something i missed? Please help?

leave your bleeder screw out while filling...otherwise you might have air bubbles. other than that i dont know what that could be. leave the bottom unplugged...pour a little in...then plug it before it leaks out...then fill it the rest of the way. i dont know what to tell you. play around with different plugs.

yup, leave the bleeder screw out, start filling. when the coolant comes out the bleeder, put it back in. then squeeze the hose to get a little more air out. run the engine with the cap off till the thermostat opens and top it off.
