There is a 5.12 set from a first gen I believe but you need to modify the input shaft. The only "bolt in" set available is from the GTUs which is a 4.30. Ring and pinion sets along with there required spacers and bearings are not cheap, or easy to install. This kind of goes with the manual tranny. It's possible to DIY, but you're better off having someone else handle it with the proper tools.

The only way you'll be able to use a short drive pinion is to buy the adaptor that Mazdatrix sells. Last I looked, the adaptor sold for about $400 and the R&P set was about the same. Throw in the bearings, spacers, seals, etc., and your talking about $1000 for parts alone.
Now, if you don't assemble it propery, all those parts will be toast.
