need quick answer to an o2 sensor problem

i have an air fuel gauge ....well i was driving home a few minutes ago and it was barely working ..only lean was lighting up and i floored it and then the check engine light came on ..when i let off on the gas the check engine light shut off . so i check all my connections , i unplus the o2 sensor and a metal terminal falls out . so basically the connector is no good . what i wanna know is can i just bypass the connector and just solder the wires together ?

Replace it with a universal plug from an autoparts store or just use insulated spade connectors. You'll regret soldering it if you ever have to take it off (e.g. exhaust work).
