Need Help with wiring harness what all do i need and how difficult is it?

Hi i have a 86 rx7 with a bad wiring harness( i fried it dont ask how lol) anyway im putting in a good one from my friends 87 rx7 with the only major difference i see being p/s. Im going to be taking the wiring harness, fusebox(interior) and possibly the ecu. What im wondering is do i need the whole harness, interior and engine bay harness? How hard is to put the harness in as ive never done it on a 7 or any other car for that matter. Thanks guys, kevin.

to replace the wire harness isnt that hard... you have to get to the computer to unplug some ****... do a search on that. (5 connectors, 2 in the computer- left side, 3 behind the kick pannel)

then you have to take off your upper intake manifold/dynamic chamber/throttle body as an entire assembly... the nuts and washers that secure the upper to the lower, dont forget that long bolt under the secondary fuel rail, also the little bolt with its head pointed tward the firewall down about the level of the nuts and washers, and various hoses and the throttle cable. Theres some bolts on the driver side you need to take off.

when you think its good to go... give a wack on the dynamic chamber around the area that says mazda 13b with your hand... and lift it off the lower intake.

then all the connectors can be accessed

BE SURE TO PLUG YOUR LOWER INTAKE MANIFOLD WITH SOMETHING, because if you drop a nut or a bolt in that **** its all over buddy.

also the oil metering pump/oil injection lines are VERY VERY VERY VERY brittle, be carefull, those arent cheap if you break one... i think its around 20 bucks, and they all are a different part number.

lol well i got everything off except i broke the 4 into 1 vacuum thingy for the oil injection all to hell. I just bought a plastic 4 into 1 thing a autozone and some vacuum hose. Do you think this will be ok or should i try and get the original part. Its just vacuum its shouldnt be that important right, i mean as far as i can tell its still getting vacuum but now its routed differently. Thanks for the info laters, kevin.

the engine harness routes from the engine sensors and fuel injectors to the left of the engine bay, it conects to the air box and your resistor pack for the fuel injectors, and other miscelanous ****. the harness then routes through the firewall an into the aformentioned 5 connections under the passenger side kick panel/carpet.

the harness, from the computer to the engine, is all one piece.

go to the fuel section of rx7.com and they have the fuel injector connectors you can splice into the harness.
