Need help with Turning Lean/Rich screw!

Is it bad to have it almost to the RICH position? Will that mean that my car MIGHT flood? On my 87 TII, when the car is cold, its starts off right away and if I shut it off and turn it on, it does the same thing. But If I drive the car till its warm enough and then run it on the turbo timer and shut it off...and like restart it after its been sitting for a while...it STARTS..and then struggles a bit and the RPMS drops and it dies! Almost like if I had some major Vacuum leak somewhere! But THAT'S NOT THE CASE. I managed to figure out that my L/R screw near the boost sensor was all the way close to "LEAN"...so I brought it to the middle position and the car idles way smoother. Now when I do the same thing, start it after its been sitting for a bit (WARM engine)...it way better, doesn't DIE but does sometime struggle a little bit. I WAS thinking of cranking the L/R screw almost to FULL "R", cause I think that would get rid of the struggle totally. IS THAT A GOOD IDEA?

I think its a good idea if the results are favorable. Its not a good idea if the results are unfavorable. That varialble resistor only effects idle, not normal running, so I say go for it. The only side effect I see is passing emissions, maybe. Have you set your idle per the free downloaded factory manual at http://www.iluvmyrx7.com section 4A for N/A or 4B for turbo? I beleive thats where the variable resistor is used...setting idle mixture.

hmm, I didn't think turbo cars had the lean/rich idle screw?. I guess the 87-88 ones do. 89+ don't.

check your tps. that might be causing the hot start problem. it fixed mine.

The 86-88 have the variable resistor. Cannot answer for any other model. My turbo and na both have one.
