NEED HELP FAST!!! car wont start!
It wont start at all. It is turning over and over but not igniting. I check the fuses for fuel pump-good. I check the resister-good. I checked the fuel pump to see if I could hear it whirling. I think its good. I took the plugs out to see if they were wet and they were really saturated with fuel. I dont know why the engine could be blown. I just drove it the day before and it was fine. It doesnt smoke or anything. I am out of ideas... Used to when I turned the key to the on position I would hear a fast ticking sound coming from the engine bay and I would feel it in the shifter, but now that small ticking is gone and the car wont start. Could the starter be bad, I know I said it turns the flywheel, but could it not be turning it fast enough to create combustion. I mean It doesnt even hit a hint of starting!!! I really need to get this car working.
I know I probably should do a compression check, but like I said it was fine the other day when I drove it. It couldnt have blown overnite while no one was driving. If anyone else has had this happen give me some insight.
O It also has a brand spankin new battery in it. everything is connected.
Things I have already checked: Main EGi, EGI inj, Silenoid Resister, Fuel pump is ok I think. It really smells like it is getting fuel. no loose wires, no bad fuses....
this freakin thing is a mystery to me... Starting to hate this particular car!!

i think that clicking sound is your main relay. If it stopped then I would check that too while you're at it.
Follow the unflooding procedure like the guys above posted too and let us know.

Did that the other night. pulled the EGI inj fuse and cranked it... nothing. then the next morning tried it and thats when I noticed that the fast clikcing sounds was gone. tried all that stuff already. Where is the main relay? I need to check that.

You may need to do a combination of pulling the fuse and adding 2cycle oil. Did you check the link I posted? Has a full proceedure. Follow that and tell me if it didn't work... But unflooding thoroughly can be a bitch if its REALLY flooded.

Ok so I took what I think is the main relay off. Let me describe it so you can tell me if I am right or not. It is a little gold box about the size of a ring box. Its a 12volt box with a single screw holding it in at the top. It has two leads coming off of it. Both are wrapped in a rubber protectant for the contacts. Am i right? If so, I check contanutiy (I am an electrician, use that word all day long) with my ohm meter and I got nothing on an terminal. I am assuming that there is something like a fuse inside that connects the two when the key is turned to the on position and completes the circuit. When I turned the key on there is no sound at all from this box. I was told that this box is the source of the fast ticking sound that I hear from within the car. It looks like it goes to the ignition coil that is for the lower spark plugs. I am REALLY hoping that this little box is the problem. LEt me know what you all think.

sounds like it. go to a junkyard and get another one or see how much it costs from mazda ( expect to lose an arm and a leg). Without the main relay the car won't go anywhere.
you can open it and see if something is loose but you're better off sourcing another one.

I was going to open it but I figured I would seeing as how I would have to bend all those metal holders out of place and then come to find that it is ok and need to reaplce it because of opening it. I tried finding one on mazdatrix, but no luck. I will search the for asle part of the forum. thanks for your help. So you are pretty sure that the ticking comes for this little box?

pretty sure. You tested continuity anyways and that should be enough of an answer. Go check a junkyard first.
went to my car and I couldn't hear the clicking due to my efan.
the only other ticking sound would be the started but you're getting no spark so the main relay comes to mind..

O I am getting spark.... Thats why I am so tripped out... I just check everything again and everything is good.. even the main relay. I was told that when a car floods and sits it can wear away the oil and make it to where it will not hold compression. I am going to try a little trick someone from the forum did to his car that kinda pretty mjuch the same symptoms. I will let you know the out come.... PRAY FOR A CAR THAT WILL START!!!!

I just did that and it did not work.... Here is what I am thinking... My starter has been acting up lately and sometimes it works; other times it doesnt. MAYBE It is bad and it is only turning the flywheel a third or even a quater as fast as it should. Waht do you think... I mean if it is not getting fully turned it wont turn the rotors fast enough to combust... right? If thats not it then I have no freakin clue what it is and I am going to stick some dynamite in the tail pipe and blow the car up!!!!

I am going to take the starter off tomorrow and take it to get it checked... Maybe I DO need a rebuild. I am not sure how a apex seals can go overnite, but whatever. I thought there were signs to a blown engine... I know some of them and I have had non of them... I might need to take it in and let someone look at it. Unfortunately there is not a good shop around here that deals with rotary engines.

I was just reading a post in the for sale section and someone was saying that if the water temp sensor is bad the car will not crank... I am going to see if thats it.. got nothing to lose right.

I don't know about the thermosensor. I know higgi is having some issues with an FD not starting after he installed a MIata/FC thermosensor but I don't know how related these two things are.
